Key Stats: RF Dustin Harris 2-for-5, 2B, HR (2); SS Mason McCoy 2-for-4, 2B, BB, SB (23), 3 R; LF Carlos Rodriguez 4-for-5, SB (13); C Ethan Salas 2-for-4, 2 2B, BB; LHP Jagger Haynes 2.2 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 3 K, 4 BB, 2 Balks; RHP Daison Acosta 2.1 IP, R (0 ER), 4 K, BB; RHP Johan Moreno 0.2 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 3 BB; RHP Andrew Moore IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 2 K, BB, HBP
Prospect Watch: El Paso and their nearest neighbors from Albuquerque played a quintessentially PCL game as the teams scored in all but one inning and the Isotopes put up nine runs in the final two frames to take the victory. Jagger Haynes‘s second Triple-A start was as rough as his first, as he gave up five runs in 2.2 innings. He has issued eight walks over his first five innings and is carrying an ERA of 18.00. Things could have been worse for the lefty, but two of the three runners he left on base were stranded by Daison Acosta. … Righties Johan Moreno and Andrew Moore struggled mightily at the back end of the game, continuing their troubles since getting promoted from San Antonio. Moreno landed only 11 of his 30 pitches in the zone and walked three, giving up five runs while recording just two outs. The 23-year-old has made five appearances for the Chihuahuas, two that were scoreless and three that have been rough. He sports a 17.05 ERA and PCL opponents are hitting .333 against him. Moore had his own struggles, giving up four runs on three hits and a walk in the ninth. Moore had walked 18 in 11.2 innings since joining El Paso, so the single base on balls marked a step in the right direction. … Ethan Salas had another strong offensive showing in his second game with the Chihuahuas, collecting a pair of doubles and a walk in five trips to the plate. His defensive work was a little rough as he was charged with both a passed ball and a throwing error, though he did also catch one would-be base-stealer. … Left fielder Carlos Rodriguez led the offense with four hits, pushing his average back above .300 for the season. He has an .885 OPS for the month.
Amarillo Sod Poodles 6, Missions 4

Tucker Musgrove’s emergence has been one of the highlights of the Missions season. (Photo: San Antonio Missions)
Key Stats: RHP Ian Koenig 6 IP, 10 H, 6 R (5 ER), 4 K, 3 HR; RHP Tucker Musgrove IP, 3 K, BB, WP; LHP Harry Gustin IP, 2 K; 3B Ryan Jackson 2-for-4, 3B; LF Kai Murphy 1-for-2, HR (3), 2 BB
Prospect Watch: Starter Ian Koenig gave up a season-high 10 hits, including three homers, but still managed to make it through six innings as he took the loss and fell to 3-9 on the year. The righty, in his fifth season after signing as an undrafted free agent, has taken the ball 20 times this year and gone at least five innings in 11 of those games. … Tucker Musgrove continued his strong run, striking out the side and issuing just one walk in his inning of work. He has punched out a whopping 53 batters over 25.1 innings since the start of May. While he has walked a concerning total of 17 over that stretch, it is a marked improvement for him. Even a slight improvement in control could put him in line for meaningful work at the back of a big-league bullpen. … Infielder Ryan Jackson had the Missions’ only two-hit game, including a triple that was one of only two extra-base hits the club logged. The 2024 17th-rounder has drawn walks to help his production as he’s moved up the system, but he has struggled this month, drawing just two free passes while striking out 21 times. … Kai Murphy capped the scoring with a solo homer – his third of the year – in the seventh. Murphy, another undrafted free agent who has been in the organization since 2022, has a .591 OPS through 152 career games with the Missions.

Key Stats: RHP Carson Montgomery 3 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, K; LHP Javier Chacon 2 IP, BB; DH Kerrington Cross 2-for-4, 2B; CF Ryan Wideman 1-for-3, BB
Prospect Watch: Carson Montgomery cruised through the first three innings, but the wheels came off in the fourth as he opened the inning by allowing a pair of singles and four walks, and failed to record another out. The righty has allowed 17 earned runs over 17.2 innings this month, walking 12 while striking out only 10. After he held opponents to a .202 average through the first three months of the season, Montgomery has allowed a .310 average this month. … Kerrington Cross had two of the TinCaps’ six hits, including a double for their only extra-base hit of the day. After laying waste to the California League through the first 10 weeks of the season, last year’s seventh-round pick has struggled for the TinCaps. In 24 games, the Hawaii native has hit just .203/.344/.342 with Fort Wayne, striking out at a 26% clip. … Ryan Wideman had another single and drew a walk and has reached base in eight of his last nine games. He is hitting .318/.344/.329 this month with a rough 20:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 90 plate appearances.
Stockton Ports 5, Storm 3

Truitt Madonna has rebounded in his return to Lake Elsinore. (Photo: Robert Escalante)
Key Stats: 1B Truitt Madonna 2-for-4, HR (3); 3B Yimy Tovar 2-for-3; SS Jorge Quintana 1-for-4, 2B; RHP Lan-Hong Su 3.2 IP, 2 H, ER, 3 K, BB; LHP Zack Qin 1.1 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, BB
Prospect Watch: Righty Lan-Hong Su cruised through three scoreless innings and came out for the start of a fourth for the first time in his young professional career. The 19-year-old got a strikeout to open the frame before surrendering a solo homer to the Ports’ cleanup batter. He bounced back to strike out the next hitter, but at 55 pitches, he was done for the day. Su, who is still likely at least 30 pounds below where he’ll be once he fills out his 6-foot-1 frame, struggled through his first three appearances with Lake Elsinore, but has found his footing over his last three starts. He has given up just the one run on four hits over seven innings. The Taiwanese hurler has shown a strong feel for the strike zone in his first season since signing a six-figure bonus last October. … Truitt Madonna homered and had another hit on the night. He is now 5-for-18 with a pair of homes since a brief stint in the ACL to get back on track. The big-bodied catcher had been mired in a 2-for-32 slump before a week in the desert as the grind of his first professional season wore him down. He had only one homer through the first three-and-a-half months of the season, but has given himself something to build on going into August. … Jorge Quintana doubled in four trips to the plate, holding his slugging percentage for the month at .521. The 19-year-old switch-hitter came into July with nine doubles and 11 total extra-base hits on the year, but has pounded out 10, including two triples and three doubles, over 19 games this month. On the year, his OPS against right-handed pitching is more than 300 points better than his mark against southpaws.
